Dal Chutney Powder Recipe / Gun Powder Recipe /Parippu podi for idli and dosa

Gun powder is a versatile food item served as side dish for idli,dosa. Chutney podi is mixed with oil while serving with idli or dosa. You can store it in a air tight container for about a month

 *Dry roast the ingredients separately.
*Do not over roast the lentils .
*You can use other variety of dry whole red chillies too .Adjust the quantity according to spice level.

Ingredients

    • Urad Dal _ 1 cup
    • Tur Dal _ 2 tbsp
    • Channa Dal _ 2 tbsp
    • Red Chilly _ 12
    • Kashmiri Red chilly _ 5
    • Curry Leaves _ 8-10 leaves
    • Hing/Asefetodia _ 1/2 tsp
    • Salt _ as needed
    • Oil _ 1tsp

Instructions

 

1.Heat a non _ stick pan or a heavy bottom pan, dry roast Urad dal  for 5-6 minutes.Remove and spread on a plate.

2. In the same pan dry roast tur dal, channa dal till it turns light brown in colour. Mean while add  red chillies, asefetodia, curry leaves,  fry for a minute or two. Remove and spread on the same plate.  Let it cool down.
3.Once the dal cools down add  and salt. In a mixer grind to make fine powder.
