Gobi 65 Recipe /Cauliflower Recipe

Chicken 65 is a popular deep fried snack. Paneer 65, Gobi 65 … are its vegetarian variation. Chicken 65 is a part of Indo-Chinese Street food Menu. And it is the only Chinese Fast Food Dish in Indo-Chinese style that makes use of Curry Leaves and giving the dish a distinct flavour.

Serves: 3-4 Prep Time: 30 Minutes Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower – 1 medium
  • Corn flour – 4 tbsp
  • Thick curd – 2 tbsp
  • Cooking soda – a pinch
  • Salt – As needed
  • Red chilli powder –  2 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • Vegetable Masala – 2 tsp
  • Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic crushed – 1 tsp + 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green Chillies – 2

Instructions

  1. Separate the cauliflower into small florets. Boil water with salt and immerse the florets inside the hot water for 25 mins. Drain away the water completely.
  2. Mix maida, corn flour, cooking soda, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and . Mix well add ginger, garlic. Add water to make a thick batter( in the consistency of idli batter). Add curd and mix the batter
  3. Heat kadai with oil enough to deep fry.
  4. Dip each cauliflower florets and deep fry until golden brown and crisp in hot oil in medium flame. Fry each cauliflower and keep aside.
  5. Heat a big heavy bottom kadai. Add oil, add garlic 1/2 tsp, ginger 1/2 tsp  green chillies 1-2, onion sautè till golden brown in colour. Add tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes. Tomatoes should be cooked , crisp and not mushy. 
  6. Now add the fried cauliflower and curry leaves. Mix well and serve hot.
